Artist Statement
I'm interested in creating art. I like to create works that are my own and personal, and to create things that others could more easily appreciate. My ceramic works consist of a form that is thrown and altered the majority of the time. I like to take an object to the limit of the clays capability, to the brink of collapse, and sometimes past. Most of the work I create has a very earthy feel, like it has been berried in the ground for half a century. I like to us multiple glazes to create a rock like pattern on the finished piece. I also use different firing methods to achieve this look. i use slips over glaze to create a crusty surface. Other works I do are drawings that incorporate clay as a sculpture in-front of the drawing, or creating the drawing entirely out of clay.
